Last Chance to Order Locally-Made Thanksgiving Pies

A daily look at five things to know to get the day started from Hamilton-Wenham Patch.

It is Monday, Nov. 18. Here are five things you need to know in Hamilton and Wenham:

1. Mix: Monday will offer up a little bit of everything weatherwise, starting with shower, thunderstorms and fog. By the end of the day, the sun should be in the sky. Temperatures will get into the 60s with strong wind gusts to 35 miles per hour.

2. Pies: The last day to pre-order a pie from Green Meadows Farm is Monday. The choices include apple, bourbon-pecan and pumpkin pies and will be available for pickup on Nov. 25-27 from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Pies are $22 each.

3. Vegetarian: Alchemy in Gloucester, owned by Serenitee Restaurant Group, which also owns 15 Walnut in Hamilton, will host the Vegetarian Thanksgiving Challenge on Tuesday night. Chef Scott Jensen will take on a team from Organic Garden in Beverly. Admission is $25 and participants will get a signature challenge cocktail, a Thanksgiving-inspired dish from each chef and the then vote on the winner. It starts at 7 p.m.

4. Kindermusik: Kindermusik had been planned to be at Hamilton-Wenham Library on Monday afternoon for a demonstration. It has been cancelled because of illness and no new date has yet been scheduled. Kindermusik is a program that explores music, movement, singing and instruments with parents and their children. “Imagine That!” is a program for 3-5 year olds and “Kindermusik Village” is for 0-18 month babies.

5. Selectmen: The Hamilton Board of Selectmen meet on Monday night at Hamilton Town Hall at 7 p.m., where the board is slated to discuss the town’s senior tax exemption program and take an early look forward at the fiscal 2015 budget.
