Curbside Compost Collection Earns Hamilton Top Recycling Award

A daily look at five things to know to get the day started from Hamilton-Wenham Patch.

It is Monday, Dec. 2. Here are five things you need to know in Hamilton and Wenham:

1. Clouds: Monday is shaping up to be a cloudy day, with a fog around to start the day with some drizzle. The high temperature will get into the low 40s with a light north wind.

2. Art: Here’s a unique combination – drinks, food and art will combine for a special event at 15 Walnut Bistro on Monday night for its “Eat. Drink. Art.” event. Participants will create a work of art while eating and drinking. It runs 7:30-9:30 and the cost is $40. To register, send an e-mail to info@the-artcenter.com and mhauenstein@email.com.

3. Hurricanes: The 2013 hurricane season came to an end over the weekend, on the last day of November. It ended up being the first hurricane season in nearly 20 years with no major hurricanes along the Atlantic coast. There were only two names storms, Humberto and Ingrid, and none of them made it to us here on the North Shore.

4. Cyber Monday: It is Cyber Monday, one the specially designated shopping day after Thanksgiving. This one focuses on online deals. It comes after Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and tomorrow is Giving Tuesday.

5. Selectmen: The Hamilton Board of Selectmen meet on Monday night at Hamilton Town Hall at 7 p.m., where it will hold a public hearing and then vote on the fiscal 2014 tax rate, plus receive an award from MassRecycle for adopting townwide curbside compost collection.
