Heat Index to Top 100 for Second Straight Day Friday

It will again be dangerously hot on Friday afternoon.

It will again be scorching hot on Friday afternoon, prompting the National Weather Service to again issue a heat advisory.

The heat advisory runs from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday for Hamilton and Wenham, plus most of eastern Massachusetts. It is the second day in a row that a heat advisory has been issued.

The heat index could reach as high as 104 degrees on Friday, with air temperatures up to 95 and dewpoints in the lower 70s. The heat will be most hazardous from 2-6 p.m., the weather service said.

“The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible,” the weather service said in its heat advisory. “Avoid prolonged work in the sun or in poorly ventilated areas, drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned environment, stay out of the sun and check in on relatives and neighbors.”
