The majority of these players have played together since age 9 in the summer tournaments. Phil Tocci has managed the team since their first District 15, 9-year-old tournament.

"We are a disciplined, balanced skilled team with each player adept at multiple positions. Every player also plays other sports during the offseason." Tocci said.

"The coaching staff’s opinion is that playing multiple sports brings a well balanced physical skill set  and mental mindset to the game."

Tocci said, offensively every player is capable of a putting runs on the board with long ball hits or short ball strategy. Several HW players will be definite home run threats to opposing teams, he said.

"Defensively we are very deep and skilled. We believe the team is also one of the fastest, which obviously will help us both defensively and offensively," Tocci said. "We are fortunate that there are several players who can take to the mound. We have a core group who are capable of putting in a complete game for us."

As pitching demands are greater with this type of pool play tournament format, Tocci hopes that to be an advantage for HW.

"All the young men are working hard and excited for the tournament. Off the field they all are schoolmates, friends as well as teammates in other sports. The families are a close group and supportive of each other."
