Report: Hamilton Native to Enter NBA Spring Draft

A Hamilton native that played his freshman year of basketball at the Regional may be headed to the NBA later this year, according to one media outlet in Providence.

An online news website in Providence is reporting that Hamilton native Michael Carter-Williams will turn pro and enter this spring's NBA draft.

GoLocalProv, citing "multiple sources,"  said Carter-Williams will declare for this spring professional draft.

The draft is in June.

Carter-Williams is a Hamilton native who played his freshman year at Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School before transferring to St. Andrew's School in Rhode Island. The point guard was a McDonald’s All-American his senior year in 2011. He is in his sophomore year at Syracuse University and is leading the NCAA in assists per game.

Carter-Williams spent a lot of time on the bench in his freshman year - including a Sweet 16 game at the TD Garden last spring - but has burst into the headlines this year.

GoLocalProv reported that Carter-Williams could be a high pick because this year's draft is "considered weak."
