Carter-Williams Returns from Injury with 'Dunk of the Night'

Michael Carter-Williams of Hamilton is a rookie with the Philadelphia 76ers and had the "Dunk of the Night" on Saturday night.

Michael Carter-Williams, the Hamilton native who is in his rookie season in the NBA with the Philadelphia 76ers, returned to the court on Friday night after he was out for seven games with a skin infection, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Then on Saturday night, versus the Milwaukee Bucks, Carter-Williams was awarded the "Dunk of the Night" for airing over the Bucks' Giannis Antetokounmpo. He took a pass from teammate Spencer Hawes before the dunk in the second quarter. In the end, the Sixers lost the game, 116-106.

The 76ers didn't win any of the seven games when Carter-Williams was out. The team topped the Brooklyn Nets, 120-121, over former Celtics stars Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett on Friday night.

Before going out injured, Carter-Williams was averaging 17.7 points, 7.3 assists, 5.8 rebounds and 3.1 steals per game. He was awarded NBA Rookie of the Week in the first week in the NBA and Rookie of the Month in November.

He also has the most popular jersey for a NBA rookie, based on sales from Adidas and NBAStore.com from October through December, according to an announcement from the 76ers.
