Agawam Squirt AA Team Tops Methuen; Remains Unefeated

The Agawam Squirt A team continued its winning ways with a 5-3 victory over Methuen on Saturday. The Chiefs played another strong game defensively, led by Michael Ayers, Aidan Cann, Clint Gourdeau and Conor Evers.

They also benefitted by another strong goaltending effort by Henry Cabot.  Offensively, the Chiefs had two goals from Billy Curtis, and one each from Cameron Guyer, Colby Guyer and Will Jones.

The Agawam Mite A hockey squad traveled early Sunday morning to the Malden Ice Palace for a Valley League Contest against Division rival Winchester. It appeared to be a continuation of the Thanksgiving tournament the squad played in Andover, as the teams traded goals throughout the contest.

Emmet Harris got the Chiefs on the board halfway through the first period, scoring assisted by linemates Lucy Werner and Luc Moruzzi. Midway through the second period, with the score tied, Jack Erdmann found Sam Curtis all alone in the crease to get the lead back.

The teams traded goals again early in the third (Charlie Faldi from Harris and Herbie Collins). Later that period, Erdmann had an unassisted tally from the low right slot and it appeared Agawam was poised to notch their sixth straight league win. It was not to be.

With the goalie pulled for an extra attacker, Winchester knotted the game up with only two seconds remaining. Final Score: 4-4.

The Agawam defense of Chase Davis, Jack Curtis, Drew Dolan and Dylan Cole continued their fine play and top scoring Jimmy Ayers played fantastic in his second shift between the pipes.

Agawam is back on home ice next Sunday against Melrose.
