The Agawam Mite AA travel hockey team upped their record to 6-0-1 in league play at the Pingree School against rival Melrose Sunday afternoon.
The game was highlighted by outstanding goal tending by both the Melrose keeper and Agawam's Chase Davis. The game went back and forth throughout the first 2 periods. Agawam had goals by Herbie Collins, Luc Moruzzi and Jimmy Ayers and the third period began with the Chiefs clinging to a 3-1 lead.
Melrose applied constant pressure on Davis early in the third and managed to sneak a goal by halfway through the period. From that point, outstanding defense by Charlie Faldi, Jack Curtis, Drew Dolan and Dylan Cole as well as two insurance goals from Jack Erdmann late in the period solified the win.
Final Score: 5-2.
Sam Curtis chipped in with an assist and excellent penalty killing by Emmett Harris and Lucy Werner made the victory a satisfying team win for the coaching staff.
