A Cutler Elementary School speech instructor and a high school history teacher have been honored for their 25 years as teachers in the Hamilton-Wenham school district.
The awards were handed out by their principals in front of the School Committee last week.
Speech teacher Joanne Kinnear-Brown began in the district in 1985 at the Buker Elementary School before moving to the Cutler Elementary School in 1991, where she has been since.
Cutler Principal Jennifer Clifford said the school's staff knows that Kinnear-Brown loves her job.
"It is fun to see her light up when she talks about her latest course work or a project she is bringing to her students," Clifford said.
Kinnear-Brown was presented with a gold star by Clifford.
"It's been a pleasure," Kinnear-Brown said after receiving the star. "Thank you very much."
Also honored for 25 years as a teacher in the school district was Vincent Bucci, a high school history teacher.
High school Principal Matt Fox said Bucci, who is the recently elected president of the the Hamilton-Wenham Education Association, has a "dry sense of humor." Bucci, who wasn't in attendance at the School Committee meeting, recently began a new co-taught class, Fox said.
