Students Recognized for Setting Excellent Example, Striving to Do the Best

Two students have been recognized for academic excellence and citizenship.

Two Miles River Middle School students have been awarded Outstanding Accomplishment certificates by the Hamilton-Wenham Rotary Club - Nick Grammas for Academic Excellence and Max Martin for Citizenship.

The awards were given out on Jan. 10 at the Rotary's weekly Friday
breakfast meeting at the Community House of Hamilton-Wenham.

"He is attentive in class, considerate of others, always prepared and consistently turns in top quality work," Grammas' teacher wrote about him "He is polite, curious and asks excellent questions...(Nick) embodies the best qualities of a student and sets an excellent example both in and out of the classroom."

Martin "is a conscientious student who always strives to do his best. He is also incredibly polite," according to his teacher. "He works well with others, and is kind to and supportive of his peers."

In addition to the certificates, pictures of the two students are going to be
put up at the school and their names will appear, along with those of
past and future winners, on a wall plaque at the school provided by Rotary.

In the past, Outstanding Accomplishment awards have been given for leadership, good citizenship, excellence in the performing arts or extracurricular activity, sportsmanship, most improved academically and academic excellence.

The Student of the Month program is a joint venture between the Hamilton-Wenham Rotary Club and the Miles River Middle School. Catherine Frost coordinates the program at the middle school and Tom Ackerman oversees it for Rotary.
