The two girls’ track relay teams that went to the New Balance Outdoor Nationals in Greensboro, N.C. this past weekend both finished in the top ten.

The 4x1 mile team, which raced on Saturday morning, finished eighth in a field of 18 teams with a time of 21:28.28. The team is made up of Emily Weigand, Emily Horgan, Emily Senning and Kerry Phelan. The team set a new record, which came after three of the team’s four members – Weigand, Phelan and Senning – ran the evening before in the 4x800 meter relay.

“That was a pretty tough double for our kids,” said Coach Steve Sawyer, noting it was one of the top five times at that length for a relay team from any school in Massachusetts this spring.
