PHOTOS: 13 Student Artists Honored With Scholastic Art Award

The Boston Globe Scholastic Art Awards this year recognized 12 Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School students and one Miles River Middle School student with several levels of honor, including five gold keys.

Artists from the have been awarded five gold keys, two silver keys and seven honorable mentions in the 2012 Boston Globe Scholastic Art Awards.

The announcement was made recently by the district's Fine Arts Department.

students Juliette Chagnon, Kara Goodyear, Katy Hogan, Chloe Leigh and Tony Pham received Gold Keys, the highest honor.

High school students Alyssa Pelletier and Anna Rourke both received Silver Keys and Melissa Bain, Griffen Hoyle, Jordan Lake, Chloe Leigh and Aaron Whitman received honorable mentions.

student Emily Dearborn received an honorable mention.

The Scholastic Art Awards are a national award program sponsored by The Alliance For Young Artists and Writers and Scholastic Educational Magazines, Inc. Local sponsors are the Boston Globe, the New England Art Educators Conference and the Massachusetts Art Education Association.

The individual Gold Key and Silver Key Exhibit runs Monday, Feb. 13 through Friday, April 20 at at the Massachusetts State Transportation Building, 10 Park Plaza in Boston.

The exhibit hours are Monday to Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from noon-4 p.m.

This exhibit does not include Gold Key portfolio work, which will be shown only in a slide show.
