Local Students Earn Honors at Colgate, Fairfield, Tufts and WPI

Students from Hamilton and Wenham have earned various honors at colleges and universities.

The following students from Hamilton and Wenham have been recognized at their college or university.

Hamilton Resident Thomas Grimshaw Named to Worcester Polytechnic Institute's Fall 2012 Dean's List

WORCESTER - Worcester Polytechnic Institute has announced that Thomas Grimshaw of South Hamilton, a freshman majoring in electrical and computer engineering, was named to the university's Dean's List for academic excellence for the fall 2012 semester.

A total of 1,337 undergraduate students achieved the criteria required for WPI's fall 2012 Dean's List. The criteria for the WPI Dean's List differ from that of most other universities as WPI does not compute a grade point average (GPA). Instead, WPI defines the Dean's List by the amount of work completed at the A level in courses and projects.

Keira McGrath Named to Fall 2012 Elizabethtown College Dean's List

ELIZABETHTOWN, Penn. - Elizabethtown College announced the names of students whose outstanding academic performances have earned them the recognition of being included on the fall 2012 dean's list.

Keira McGrath, a first-year Biology major from South Hamilton is included on the list.

To earn this recognition, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.60 or better in 14 or more credit hours, of which at least 12 credits are letter-graded course work. Only Elizabethtown's full-time undergraduate students are eligible for this distinction.

Area residents named to Dean's List at Fairfield University

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Fairfield University has announced that the following local residents have been named to the Dean's List for the Fall 2012 semester:

Joanna Durgin, a resident of Wenham.

Margaret O'Brien, a resident of South Hamilton.

Charles Serpa, a resident of Wenham.

To be selected for the Dean's List, a student must attain a grade point average of at least 3.5, of a possible 4.0.

Abby Curran Named to Dean's List at Tufts University

MEDFORD - Tufts University recently announced the Dean's List for the Fall 2012 semester.

Among these students is Abby Curran of Hamilton, class of 2016.

Dean's List honors at Tufts University require a semester grade point average of 3.4 or greater.

Lyndsey Shepard Receives Faculty Honors at Trinity College for Fall 2012 Semester

HARTFORD, Conn. - Lyndsey Shepard of Hamilton, a member of the class of 2014 at Trinity College in Hartford, Conn., has received Faculty Honors for the 2012 fall semester.

To earn Faculty Honors, a student must achieve a semester grade point average of at least a 3.667 with no individual letter grade below B-minus.

Rebecca Murray of Wenham Named to JMU's Dean's List

HARRISONBURG, Va. - Wenham resident Rebecca Murray has been named to the dean's list at James Madison University for the fall 2012 semester. Students who earn dean's list honors must carry at least 12 graded credit hours and earn a GPA of between 3.5 and 3.899. Murray is a freshman whose major is justice studies.

Hamilton Resident Kara Nickas Named to Stonehill College's Fall 2012 Dean's List

EASTON - Stonehill College recently named South Hamilton resident Kara L. Nickas, a member of the class of 2014, to its Dean's List for the Fall 2012 semester.

To qualify for the Dean's List at Stonehill, students must have a semester grade point average of 3.50 or better and must have completed successfully all courses for which they were registered.

Anna Roberts Earns Dean's Award at Colgate University

HAMILTON, N.Y. - Anna Roberts was a recipient of the Dean's Award for academic excellence during the 2012 fall term at Colgate University, where Roberts is a member of the Class of 2016.

To be eligible for the Dean's Award, a Colgate student must achieve higher than a 3.30 average while enrolled in at least four courses. Roberts is a graduate of Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School, and lives in South Hamilton.
