The following local students earned various honors at colleges and universities this spring.

Area residents named to Dean's List at Fairfield University

Fairfield, Conn. - Fairfield University has announced that the following local residents have been named to the Dean's List for the spring 2012 semester:

Joanna Durgin of Wenham.

Margaret O'Brien of Hamilton.

Fairfield University, a comprehensive Jesuit university in Fairfield, Conn., challenges its students to lead inspired lives of leadership and service. To be selected for the Dean's List, a student must attain a grade point average of at least 3.5, of a possible 4.0.

Heather Spearing Makes the Spring 2012 Dean's List at Wake Forest University

Winston-Salem, N.C. - Heather Spearing, a resident of Wenham,  was among over 1,900 students from Wake Forest University who made the Spring 2012 Dean's List.

Meredith Swanson of South Hamilton Named to the University of Hartford Dean's List

West Hartford, Conn. - The University of Hartford is pleased to announce Meredith Swanson of Hamilton has been named to its Dean's List for Spring 2012.

Chartered in 1957 with the mission to be a "private university with a public purpose," the University of Hartford offers undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs in the arts, the humanities, business, engineering and technology, education, and the health professions.

Area Students Named to Colby College Dean's List

Waterville, Maine - Area students were named to the dean's list at Colby College in Waterville, Maine, for their outstanding academic achievement during the spring semester of the 2011-12 year.

Samuel A. Bachelder, a member of the Class of 2014, is the son of Robert and Hope Bachelder of Wenham and attended .

Mckenzie E. Love, a member of the Class of 2013, is the daughter of William and Susan Love of Wenham and attended .

Students whose grade point averages were 3.68 or higher were named to the Dean's List.

Local Students Named to Dean's List at the University of Vermont

Burlington, Vt. - The following area students have been named to the dean's list for the spring 2012 semester at the University of Vermont:

Elizabeth C. Astulfi of Hamilton, a first-year student in the College of Arts & Sciences.

Courtney J. Wilson of Hamilton, a first-year student majoring in Exercise and Movement Sciences in the College of Nursing & Health Sciences.

Andrew H. Erdman of Wenham, a sophomore majoring in Mathematics in the College of Engineering & Mathematical Sciences.

To be named to the dean's lists, students must have a grade-point average of 3.0 or better and rank in the top 20 percent of their class in their respective college or school.

Julianne Davis Named to the UMass Dartmouth Spring 2012 Dean's List

North Dartmouth - Julianne Davis of Hamilton, who is majoring in Psychology at UMass Dartmouth, has been named to the Spring 2012 Dean's List in recognition of earning a semester grade point average of 3.2 or higher of a possible 4.0.
