Horses, 'Treasures' and an Air Force Band to Fill Local Weekend Calendar

The "Get Out" weekend events guide gives you a quick look at five local events happening this weekend close to home.

This weekend, horse owners and horse lovers will converge in the arena at the Topsfield Fairgrounds on Saturday in an event sponsored by Essex County Trail Association and the popular Attic Treasures sale runs all weekend at Wenham Museum.

Plus, the annual Winthrop Pre-K yard sale is Saturday morning and the Air Force band comes to Gordon College on Sunday.

1. Friends of the Hamilton-Wenham Pre-K Annual Yard Sale

Where/When: ; Saturday, 8 a.m.-noon

Why Go: Grab some kids clothes and toys at affordable places and help raise money for the school district’s preschool at Winthrop.

Where/When: Topsfield Fairgrounds, 207 Boston St., Topsfield; Saturday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Why Go: This is an annual event, sponsored by the Essex County Trail Association, focused on the needs of horse owners and riders, with everything from riding apparel and stable equipment to horse-themed gifts and home décor. There will also be carious demonstrations running in the demo ring all day, inside the fair’s arena building.

Where/When: ; Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Why Go: Shoppers line up early and once inside usually find it all at this semi-annual tradition at Wenham Museum. The museum describe the items for sale as a “treasure trove,” with everything from jewelry to records. Plus, new items are displayed on Sunday so it is worth returning to take another look on Sunday.

4. U.S. Air Force Band of Liberty

Where/When: Phillips Recital Hall, ; Sunday 2 p.m.

Why Go: The Air Force’s Band of Liberty travels up Route 128 from Hanscom Air Force Base to delight the crowd in a free Sunday afternoon show.

5. Mother-Daughter Charity Concert (The event occurs May 6 and not this weekend. It was inadvetedly added to this week's calendar. We apologize for the error.)

Where/When: ; Sunday, 3 p.m.

Why Go: Delles Belles, a impressive local group of bell ringers join other groups such as The Comparados, The Stravados, The Voices of Peace and The Monacos in a benefit show for the Acord Food Pantry.
