Hamilton Native Scores 17 in Hoops Game on Aircraft Carrier

Michael Carter-Williams of Hamilton, a sophomore on the Syracuse University basketball team, poured in 17 points during a unique game on an aircraft carrier earlier this week.

A Hamilton native was one of two top scorers in a college basketball game played on an aircraft carrier to commemorate Veterans Day and kick off the college basketball season.

Michael Carter Williams, a sophomore on the Syracuse University basketball team , poured in 17 points versus San Diego State in a game dubbed "Battle on the Midway," according to coverage by CNY Central.

The USS Midway was in San Diego Harbor for the game.

Carter-Williams's total was matched by teammate, forward C.J. Fair, with 17 points to lead the Orangemen in its first game of the season. 

Carter-Williams played his freshman year at Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School before transferring to St. Mark's in Rhode Island, where he was named the the 2010 Gatorade Rhode Island Player of the Year.
