Gordon Donates Sweeper to Schools

Gordon College gives a used but relatively new sweeper to the school district.

The floors of the Hamilton-Wenham schools will be a little cleaner thanks to the donation of an industrial cleaning machine by Gordon College.

Assistant Schools Superintendent of Finance and Administration Peter Gray said the donation offer was made early in the summer and the janitors were itching to receive it.

But the donation needed the blessing of the School Committee, which it was given at last week's first meeting after the summer break. The committee accepted the donation with a unanimous vote.

Grey said the "area wide sweeper" machine is used but "relatively new" and will immediately be put to work cleaning the hallways. It is estimated to be worth $3,800.
