Generals Sports Roundup: Boys' Lax Falls Against Top-Ranked Foe, Track Opens at Home on Wednesday

The Generals spring sports season got started on Monday afternoon with boys' lacrosse action and continues on Tuesday with girls' lacrosse and Wednesday with a home track meet.

The boys’ lacrosse team fell to last year’s Div. 3 state champion 7-4 on Monday behind a stellar performance by the Wildcats’ goalie, reports BostonLax.

It was the second win of the season for Weston, which defeated last week.

Generals coach Jim LaSelva chose Weston as the Generals opponent to start off the 2012 season, .

“We strive to be the best and to try to be a high-level Div. 3 program like we want, we need to play the best (teams),” LaSelva said.

Weston netminder Jared Fong stopped 24 of 28 shots on Monday, a performance that equaled that of last week’s showing versus Newton North, his coach, Jim Wilcon, told Boston Lax.

Last year’s top scorer for the Generals, Elliott Burr, had two goals. Other goals came from Eddie Frick and Spencer Bergholtz. At one point in the second quarter, the game was knotted at 3-3.

The starts at at 3:45 p.m. The track team has its first meet on Wednesday at home versus at 3:30 p.m.
