Wenham Senior Center to Expand Hours in Heat

The Wenham Senior Center on School Street will be open until 6 p.m. because of the expected heat and humidity on Thursday.

When the weather “becomes consistently hot,” the will be open until 6 p.m.

Council on Aging Director Susan Carp, who is shared between Hamilton and Wenham, said the Wenham building on School Street would be open until 6 p.m. on Thursday because of forecasted temperatures into the 90s.

There are programs in the building until noon, but afterward it will be open.

“I will keep the doors open from noon-6 p.m. for those that want shelter,” Carp said on Wednesday.

Carp said she would develop and distribute “a more concrete plan” for periods of hot and humid weather this summer.

“We do have a microwave and refrigerator if folks want to bring their lunch or have an early dinner here,” Carp said.
