Wenham Water Superintendent Erik Mansfield said the flushing is planned to start on Monday, Oct. 21 and will happen between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Mondays through Fridays.
“Please be advised that some discoloration of the water may occur during this process,” Mansfield said in his announcement. “The discoloration of the water is only temporary and does not indicate a problem with the water.”
If water does become discolored, Mansfield recommends turning on an outside faucet to clear the water line before doing any laundry or cleaning.
The water department will continue to monitor the water quality during the flushing to make sure the water remains safe to drink.
“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but flushing is an important part of our system maintenance,” Mansfield said.
