Trash Pickup Expected To Happen Through Storm

Hiltz Waste Disposal plans to pickup trash, recycling and organics through the storm on Thursday and Friday in Hamilton.

Trash pickup in Hamilton is expected to happen as usual on Thursday and Friday through the snowstorm, according to Town Manager Michael Lombardo.

This week is a “black barrel week,” so trash, recycling and organics will all be picked up in Hamilton on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Pickup is delayed by a day this week because of the New Year’s Day holiday on Wednesday, but pickup will go ahead as usual on the holiday schedule, he said.

“They fully expect to be picking up trash,” Lombardo said, adding “The bulk of the snow will come (Thursday night) and while it will take them considerably longer to complete the routes, Hiltz does not foresee cancelling service at the present time.”

Hiltz Waste Disposal Inc. of Gloucester is the company contracted by the town to pickup trash, recycling and organics.

Lombardo noted that trash has been picked up during storms larger than this week’s Nor’ Easter.
