Will the Fluffernutter become Massachusetts’ official state sandwich? It sure looks that way.

The bill to designate the local favorite as the official sandwich of the commonwealth was advanced Tuesday by a voice vote during an informal session of the House of Representatives, the Associated Press is reporting.

The bill was filed by former Revere State Rep. Kathi-Anne Reinstein

A Fluffernutter is a peanut butter and Fluff sandwich. Fluff was invented in Somerville, MA in 1917 by Archibald Query right in Somerville’s Union Square.

Last September the local lunchtime favorite made Zagat’s list of 50 Sandwiches, 50 States, which breaks down unique regional sandwiches across the country.

Personally, I always needed Jelly, instead of Peanut Buttler on my fluffernutter... it was too sticky otherwise.

Lots of important things going on. One being Russia slowly taking over portions of the Ukraine under false pretenses of "protecting Russian speaking residents from aggression by a US backed terrorist regime", and we get stories on peanut butter and fluff.

The Fluffernutter SHOULD be the symbol of Massachusetts POLITICIANS at all levels. - - - They waste time on FLUFF and NUTTERY. - - - But, perhaps, it is not entirely the pols fault. The lapdog media must share part of the blame. - - - A case in point: This stupid story made Patch, but hugely wasteful public works projects and gross public sector union contracts are never mentioned. - - - But the pols know perfectly well they will NEVER be held to account for ANYTHING, because they can distract the media and the public with nonsense like a state sandwich. - - - I think we should have a 'state horses anatomy part'. I leave it to the reader to figure out WHICH part I'd suggest... HINT: Look under the tail.

Rid the school cafeterias of soft drinks and sweets to save America's youth from the perils of obesity and tooth decay, but make the Fluffernutter the official sandwich. Only in Massachusetts.
