Road Closures, Delays Possible This Week as Road Work Continues

Road work along Asbury Street in Hamilton this week could cause portions of the road to be closed or could cause delays with alternating one-lane traffic.

Road closures and delays are possible on Tuesday and Wednesday along outer Asbury Street in Hamilton as improvements continue to the road.

Crack filling is scheduled to happen on both Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 22 and Oct. 23, according to Allison Jenkins, administrative assistant to the Hamilton Department of Public Works.

The work is part of a $75,000 project to restore the road surface along outer Asbury Street between Highland Street and the Topsfield town line. The upcoming work is phase three in a four-phase project, according to DPW Director Dave Hanlon.

The DPW will start work on Tuesday at the Topsfield town line in one lane and work south to the area where a new structural overlay was recently constructed. The workers will then move to the other lane and work back northward to the Topsfield town line.

After that, crews will “jump” southward over the overlay section and do the same work toward Highland Street and back.

“Please expect delays and possible road closings,” the DPW said in an alert about the work. “We apologize for any inconvenience.”
