Officer Receives Minor Injuries After Cruiser Struck From Behind

Friday, April 13

1:08 a.m. A verbal warning was issued after a car stop on Grapevine Road.

6:18 a.m. Somebody was transported to the hospital after an ambulance call to a Conrad Circle address.

10:18 a.m. A well being check was conducted at a Larch Lane address.

10:55 a.m. A disabled vehicle was assisted on Route 128.

10:59 a.m. A ticket was issued after a car stop on Route 128.

11:55 a.m. Assistance was rendered at a Kimball Avenue address.

12:24 p.m. A ticket was issued after a car stop at Topsfield Road and Cedar Street.

12:32 p.m. Wenham animal control was called to an unspecified location.

Saturday, April 14

12:17 a.m. A verbal warning was issued after a car stop on Main Street.

12:21 a.m. A verbal warning was issued after a car stop at Arbor and School streets.

12:51 a.m. A ticket was issued after a car stop on Grapevine Road.

11:47 a.m. A verbal warning was issued after a car stop at Grapevine and Rubbly roads.

1:27 p.m. A motor vehicle crash occurred at Monument and Cherry streets. A Wenham police cruiser was stopped at the stop sign on Monument Street at Cherry Street when another car driving on Monument Street came up from behind and struck the cruiser. The female driver, whom police did not name, was distracted by a bee before she hit the cruiser, which is the pickup truck, cruiser 1723, police said.

She was not injured but the officer in the cruiser was taken to Lahey North in Peabody to be checked out. Police did not initially release the officer’s name, but Chief Ken Walsh told the Board of Selectmen on Tuesday that it was Officer David Marsh. He is OK, Walsh said.

The cruiser is out of service. Walsh said there is no estimate yet on the cost of the damage.

“The frame could be bent on the vehicle,” Walsh said.

The crash remains under investigation.

4:14 p.m. Animal control was called to an animal call on Juniper Street.

8:04 p.m. A verbal warning was issued after a car stop at Main Street and Great Pond Road.

Sunday, April 15

1:02 a.m. A verbal warning was issued after a car stop at Main Street and Fairview Avenue.

1:15 a.m. A verbal warning was issued after a car stop on Main Street.

1:17 a.m. A ticket was issued after a car stop on Main Street.

1:30 a.m. A verbal warning was issued after a car stop on Arbor Street.

9:26 a.m. Malicious destruction was reported at the police station. Somebody reported vandalism to a vehicle.

9:30 p.m. A report of vandalism at an unspecified location was investigated.

10:40 a.m. A summons was issued after a motor vehicle crash on Route 128 northbound north of the exit 17 ramp. A Beverly woman was issued a summons for speeding, marked lanes violation and reckless operation of a motor vehicle.

11:23 p.m. A fire along Cedar Street was extinguished.

1:59 p.m. Somebody was taken to the hospital after an ambulance call to a Parson’s Hill Road address.

2:40 p.m. A report of threats on Grapevine Road was given to Wenham police.

3:44 p.m. A larceny was reported on Cedar Street. It did not include forced entry and police did not say what was taken. It remains under investigation.

6:16 p.m. Assistance was rendered on Maple Street.

6:40 p.m. Hazards were reported at a Walnut Road address.

8:23 p.m. A ticket was issued after a car stop on Walnut Road.
