As a precaution, we ensured building safety and security and were in direct contact with the Hamilton PD.

Students in the middle school were generally unaware of the events that were unfolding, yet at the close of the day, I did address the entire school and informed them they would likely here about a 'tragic event in a CT school', that we care for them greatly, and that are safe as they headed home today.

I have also let our students know that as we return on Monday, we will be here to guide and support them if questions and concerns arise.

Finally, please note that as a precautionary measure, the entire MRMS faculty will be gathering Monday morning to review safety protocols, and discuss any and all necessary steps needed to meet the needs of our students as the days and weeks unfold.

Let us all give our loved ones an extra hug and keep in our minds and hearts those that were impacted by today's tragedy.

Kind regards,

John A. Driscoll
