Hamilton and Wenham businesses will have a shot at a $200 prize with the top fall-themed storefront.
As autumn falls upon the , the shadowed downtown streetscape will blush in reds, oranges and yellows, be fortified by tasseled cornstalks and scented by mums, leaves, and apples.
Storeowners will be placing pumpkins, gourds, and fall flora in their flower pots, window boxes, and storefronts as they compete in the first annual Harvest in the Village Marketplace Beautification Competition.
The Hamilton-Wenham Rotary Club is donating a $150 to a Hamilton or Wenham charity of the winner’s choice and the Hamilton Selectmen will be offering a $200 prize to the most lovely fall display just in time for the Harvest in the Village Marketplace fall fair, which happens on Sept. 24 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
The judging for the most beautiful harvest décor will happen on Sept. 16 by the Hamilton Selectmen, Wenham Selectmen, Hamilton Town Manager, Wenham Town Administrator and a Hamilton Wenham Rotarian.
While the fall fair will be held along Railroad Avenue in Hamilton and at 300 Main St. in Wenham, the competition is open to all of the businesses in the Hamilton Wenham Village Marketplace.
is offering a discount on their selection of fall flowers and merchandise to businesses competing in the contest.
All businesses are encouraged to add displays to their storefronts and all residents are welcomed to attend the judging as well as appreciate the beautiful fall scenes created by the competition.
