How to Dispose of Your Christmas Tree in Hamilton and Wenham

Christmas Day is behind us. The big holiday dinner has been eaten, the presents have been opened while the Christmas tree is still set up and decorated.

Wondering how you'll get rid of it? Here are some answers:

In both towns, recycle it:

Hamilton-Wenham Green will be recycling Christmas trees this season. The tree chipping is donated by Dodge Tree and will be brought to Brick Ends Farm, who will donate $1 per tree.

Bring your tree to Pingree Park in Wenham and drop it off in the parking lot in front of the baseball backstop or contact the Boy Scouts to pick up your tree at TheTreeGuy@juno.com or call 978-468-0019 before Jan. 6, the last day to drop off trees.

Last year Hamilton and Wenham recycled 823 trees. Hamilton-Wenham Green is hoping for 1,000 trees this year.

The program has support from the town of Wenham, Dodge Tree Service and Brick Ends Farm.

In Hamilton:

Bring your Christmas tree to Patton Park to be stacked and burned. Drop off your tree in the area behind the baseball backstop before 4 p.m. on Jan. 6.

The bonfire takes place every year at 6 p.m. on Jan. 6. 

In Wenham:

Wenham offers residents two ways to dispose of Christmas Trees.

1. Trash Pickup: Residents can place Christmas trees out with their trash on their regular trash collection dates during the weeks of Dec. 31 and Jan. 7 and the trees will be collected by Hiltz Disposal.
2. Drop-off: The Wenham Department of Public Works has set up three drop off locations in town where residents can deliver and dispose of Christmas trees. The locations are the paring lot at West Wenham Playground, the parking lot at Pingee Park and the DPW yard at Iron Rail on Grapevine Road. Drop-off at all locations runs through Jan. 11. All tree will be ground-up and recycled for horticultural use.
