Yelling Neighbor Sent to Hospital for Evaluation

A roundup of Wenham Police and Fire Department activity for July 19-21.

The following activity for the Wenham Police and Fire Department comes from the Essex County Regional Emergency Communication Center log for Wenham for Friday, July 19 through Sunday, July 21.

Friday, July 19

  • An unregistered vehicle was stopped near Sports Stop on Main Street at 1:11 a.m. The vehicle was registered along the side of the road and the driver was issued a ticket.
  • The driver of a broken down car at Topsfield Road and Burnham Road was assisted at 5:27 a.m. The officer stood by until AAA arrived.
  • An officer came across a branch hanging over the road on Larch Row at 8:44 a.m. A message was left for the Department of Public Works, which would take care of the branch.
  • A verbal warning for the inspection sticker was issued after a car stop at Grapevine Road and Essex Street at 9:16 a.m.
  • Police were asked to assist the Fire Department while a cease work order issued by the Building Department was issued at a Woodside Lane address at 10:40 a.m. The contractor was notified and removed tools.
  • A front door alarm went off at a Morgan Street address at 1:52 p.m. The owner gave the correct password and police confirmed that it was a false alarm.
  • A commercial fire alarm was activated at 225 Main St. at 2:59 p.m. It was caused by burned food.
  • A car was stopped at 6:13 p.m. for having an expired registration at William Fairfield Drive and Topsfield Road. New Beverly Auto Clinic towed the vehicle and a ticket was issued.
  • A resident on Main Drive reported that her neighbor was outside yelling again at 6:19 p.m. Lyons ambulance was requested to respond and the person that was yelling was taken to Beverly Hospital for a voluntary evaluation. Some officers remained at the home to follow-up and another officer went to Beverly Hospital to follow-up.
  • A female walked in to the fire station on Main Street at 8:55 p.m. saying she was lost. The Fire Department called police to assist. A friend was called and the woman was picked up at the police station.
  • Suspicious people were reported at a Monument Street address at 10:47 p.m. The two people were provided a public transport to Beverly.
  • A verbal warning was issued for marked lanes violation on Main Street at 11:16 p.m.

Saturday, July 20

  • A traffic stop was conducted at Grapevine Road and Toppan Lane at 10:51 a.m.
  • A person came in to the police station at 8:14 p.m. reporting a domestic dispute at a Grapevine Road address. Two officers then went to the home on Grapevine Road to take pictures and checked side streets for a female while an officer stood by at the home.

Sunday, July 21

  • Two officers responded to the area of Iron Rail on Grapevine Road at 1:34 a.m. for suspicious people. A male was found near a nearby Grapevine Road address and he was given a public transport back to the station.
  • An attempt was made to serve a warrant at a Grapevine Road address at 10:05 a.m. The person was not home.
  • A person would not leave the property and was trespassing at 300 at Main at 10:42 a.m. The trespassing man ended up leaving without incident.
  • Two Wenham officers assisted Topsfield police at 6:44 p.m. with a multi-vehicle crash on Route 1 near the Topsfield Fairgrounds.
  • Police checked on a vehicle at Pingree Park at 9:52 p.m. A group of youths were told the park is closed and they said they would be on their way.
