What was the Digging in Front of the Wenham Fire Station?

The front of the Wenham fire station recently got a new surface.

The Wenham fire station has a new surface in front of the station, improvements after years of wear and tear on the pavement that was there.

The Wenham Department of Public Works started the work, Fire Chief Bob Blanchard said, tearing up the front of the station before new pavement was put down.

"Over the years it has settled and was full of pot holes," he said.

The department's trucks were parked behind the station while the work was completed, he said. The trucks returned to the station after the new coat of asphalt settled.

The work cost about $15,000, Town Administrator Mark Andrews told the Salem News, but could have reached a pricetag of $23,000 if the prep work was not done by town crews.
