UPDATE: Sgt. Ken Nagy Found Dead in His Car

Nagy reportedly shot and seriously wounded a Beverly officer on Friday night.

Hamilton Sgt. Ken Nagy, who was the target of a regionwide manhunt Friday night after he allegedly shot and seriously wounded a Beverly cop, was found dead in his vehicle near the scene of the shooting at about 11 p.m.

Nagy was off duty when he reportedly shot Beverly Police Officer Jason Lantych at 5:48 p.m. Friday before fleeing in his black 2008 Saab SUV with license plate number 4JH 620. Lantych is listed in serious condition at Beverly Hospital.

At an earlier press conference, Essex District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett said he was not going to guess as to a motive, but that “we believe they knew each other.”

Blodgett asked the public for their help in finding Nagy, who Blodgett called “armed and dangerous.”

Shortly before 11 p.m., Mass State Police reported that Nagy had returned to the scene. Initially, State Police reported that he fled his vehicle on foot, but later found that he was dead in the vehicle.
