The incident occurred at about 4:45 p.m. when a white van that possibly had blue markings pulled to the side of the road and the driver motioned to the victim to come to the side of the van, according to the Connect-CTY message read by Chief Dispatcher Anne Marie Cullen.

The victim then ran away into a wooded area along the side of the road and returned home, telling a neighbor what happened. The neighbor, in turn, called police.

No further details were released about the description of the driver of the van.

According to the message, Hamilton Police Chief Russell Stevens is asking residents to “remain vigilant” and report any suspicious activity to the police at 978-468-1212.

Police did not specify the victim’s age or sex in the Connect-CTY. It was also not stated which street the incident occurred on or the area of town where it occurred.
