Memorial Dedicated to Peter Burnham, Long-Time Public Servant
Peter Burnham served the town of Wenham for 27 years as director of public works and with the Wenham Fire Department.
Peter J. Burnham was remembered by friends and colleagues as a perfectionist, a dedicated public servant, and a kind-hearted soul, at a memorial dedication in his honor last Wednesday.
Burnham was director of the town highway department and a member of the Wenham Fire Department for 27 years, from 1971 to 1998.
In a brief ceremony inside the Wenham town garage, speakers included Edward Haraden, the Wenham chief of police from 1959 to 1984; Wenham Fire Chief Bob Blanchard and Wenham Police Chief Kenneth Walsh.

Burnham's widow, Gail Burnham, was also in attendance.
"He was a mentor to many of us," Blanchard said. "Many good stories of good times together, and a lot of tragic times we'd seen together in the fire service. He was truly my mentor, and we miss him dearly."
