MedFlight Called Off After Car Crashes Avoiding a Deer

Four people were hurt but the injuries were not life-threatening in the early morning crash.

Four family members all had to be taken to the hospital after the car they were in crashed while trying to avoid a deer.

The crash happened at 1:45 a.m. on July 27 on upper Asbury Street near the Patton estate in Hamilton. The car – police did not say the make and model – crash into a tree on the opposite side of the road while trying to avoid a deer in the road, according to a report by Hamilton Police Officers Matthew Donovan and Andrew Neill.

At first, rescue crews had called for a MedFlight helicopter that was planned to land at Pingree Park in Wenham. The helicopter was diverted to Beverly Hospital and then later cancelled. Hamilton Police Lt. Scott Janes said none of the passengers ended up being taken in the medical helicopter.

Injured were driver Timothy Wetson, 54, and passengers Jodi Wetson, 49, Curtis Wetson, 26 and Brenden Wetson, 19 - all of Hamilton. All of the injuries were not life-threatening, police said.

In addition to Beauport Ambulance, which covers Hamilton, a Lyons ambulance had to be called to help take one passenger to the hospital.

No charges were filed in connection to the crash.
