Flaming Gas Grill Prompts Call to Fire Department

A roundup of recent Wenham Police and Fire Department activity.

The following activity for the Wenham Police and Fire Department comes from the Essex County Regional Emergency Communication Center log for Wenham on Monday, Aug. 5.

  • A car stop was conducted at 12:01 a.m. at Arbor and Main Streets. The registered owner of the vehicle was driving and has a foreign license.
  • Suspicious activity was reported at a Topsfield Road address at 12:18 a.m. A warrant check was done on four people. A ticket was issued to one person for an open container and another person was issued a civil citation for marijuana.
  • The Police Department and Fire Department were called to an Old Country Lane address at 2:22 a.m. for someone who had fallen. Lyons ambulance was canceled and the person refused transport to the hospital.
  • Danvers police called to report a theft at the rail trail parking in Wenham on Topsfield Road at 1:45 p.m. A pocket book was stolen out of a car and while the officer was taking the report another pocket book was found in the woods nearby.
  • A 911 call was received from Everett at 2:02 p.m. The call was transferred to Everett, who said they were handling the call.
  • A 911 caller from a Porter Street address reported a grill fire at 4:55 p.m. The LP tank was disconnected and moved away from the grill and the fire was put out.
  • A possible rabid raccoon was reported in the yard of a Kimball Avenue address at 6:11 p.m. The animal control officer was notified.
  • A hydrant was open and spraying water into the road at Grapevine Road and Parson Hill at 7:53 p.m. A Fire Department captain confirmed with the Beverly Water Department that they had opened the hydrant and everything is OK.
  • A driver was assisted on Route 128 northbound south of exit 16 at 8:13 p.m. The person was all set; they had help on the way and were parked well off the road.
