A tree fell on power lines along Chebacco Road in Hamilton on Monday afternoon, closing the road for about an hour and cutting power to homes in the area.

A tree came down on wires at about 2:45 p.m., said Hamilton Police Lt. Scott Janes. It occurred about a half mile down Chebacco Road from Essex Street, completely blocking the road, Janes said.

The tree was cleared from the road by about 3:45 p.m., Janes said. Crews from National Grid remained there, undertaking repairs to the electric lines.
