Car Break-in Reported at Rail Trail Parking Lot

The following activity for the Wenham Police and Fire Department comes from the Essex County Regional Emergency Communication Center log for Wenham on Wednesday, July 24 and Thursday, July 25.

Wednesday, July 24

  • A suspicious vehicle was in the area of Sias Lane at 2:24 a.m. Police found that it was dropping off someone in the area.
  • Lyons ambulance took someone to the hospital after a medical aid call on William Fairfield Drive at 1:09 p.m. for a male who was dizzy and vomiting.
  • A verbal warning was issued for speeding at 4:39 p.m. after a car stop at Grapevine Road and Essex Street.
  • A car stop was made on Cherry Street at 6:44 p.m. because the registered owner had a suspended license. The registered owner was not driving.
  • Two roommates were having a verbal dispute at a Pleasant Street address at 8:46 p.m. The caller stated that his roommate would not leave. Police spoke with both men and the issue was resolved.
  • A vehicle struck a deer on Walnut Road at 9:24 p.m. Somebody reported to Hamilton police that the vehicle had left the area but the deer was still there and alive. The animal control officer was notified and the deer was removed.
  • The alarm went off at Wenham Museum at 10:33 p.m. There were no problems with the building and it was secure.

Thursday, July 25

  • A ticket was issued for a stop sign violation on Main Street at 12:42 a.m.
  • A male was reported to be having a seizure in a car near Richdale at Topsfield Road and Maple Street at 7:10 a.m. Lyons ambulance transported the person to Beverly Hospital.
  • A black Cadillac was driving erratically as it was headed south on Route 1A at 10:19 a.m. It was first reported to Hamilton police, who passed it on to Wenham police when it crossed the town line. The Cadillac had a livery license plate and a large antenna and was speeding and weaving in and out of traffic. The caller said the vehicle passed into Beverly and the caller was informed to notify Beverly police. Wenham police checked the area and did not locate the vehicle.
  • A break-in to a car at the rail trail parking area on Topsfield Road was reported at 1:19 p.m. The victim left the parking lot and drove home to Topsfield before reporting it. A window was smashed and items were taken.
  • Manchester police reported that a vehicle was pulled off Route 128 near exit 17 in Wenham at 1:38 p.m. The vehicle was gone when officers arrived.
  • A Longfellow Road resident came to the station at 3:46 p.m. to report vandalism at his residence.
  • An officer was flagged down on Grapevine Road near Gordon College at 5:48 p.m. The officer was told about a distressed or disturbed person at a Grapevine Road address. The person was located and they were given a courtesy escort to the Beverly line.
  • A verbal warning for defective equipment was issued after a car stop on Main Street at 9:43 p.m.
  • A car crashed on Main Street near Wenham Lake at 10:02 p.m. One person refused medical attention.
