Caller Seeks Help for Injured Owl

Monday, July 22

  • A neighbor on Woodside Lane reports that a home where a stop work order had been issued had work trucks parked at it at 7:17 a.m. The contractors left the property.
  • A lift assist was provided by the Fire Department at an Essex Street address at 11:33 a.m. Lyons ambulance was canceled since no transport to the hospital was needed.
  • A disabled vehicle near the Route 128 overpass on Grapevine Road was checked at 4:51 p.m. It was off to the side of the road.
  • A speeding ticket was issued after a car stop on Grapevine Road at 5:03 p.m.
  • Cross Towing towed a vehicle with revoked insurance after a car stop on Grapevine Road at 5:21 p.m.
  • A verbal warning for speed was issued after a car stop on Grapevine Road at 5:47 p.m.
  • Two people on Boulder Lane were told there is no trespassing allowed in the area and sent on their way at 5:49 p.m.
  • A verbal warning for following too close was issued after a car stop on Pleasant Street at 8:11 p.m.
  • A verbal warning was issued for defective equipment and failure to dim lights after a car stop at Arbor Street and Eddel Avenue at 8:16 p.m.

Tuesday, July 23

  • A driver was arrested for operating under the influence after a car stop on Grapevine Road at 12:19 a.m. Adults removed the four passengers and the parents came to pick up the vehicle.
  • A vehicle that was out of fuel on Main Street near Town Hall at 8:30 a.m. was assisted. Somebody else showed up with more fuel. A ticket was issued to the driver for a passenger violation since they had a passenger in the car.
  • An officer conducted an investigation at the Wenham Housing Authority on Larch Lane at 8:49 a.m. he returned to the station with some evidence.
  • A total of five patient refusals were obtained after a car crash at Grapevine Road and Hull Street at 8:54 p.m. Lyons ambulance had responded along with the Fire Department and a vehicle was towed away by Big Jim’s.
  • An alarm activation at Penguin Hall on Essex Street at 9:37 a.m. ended up being cancelled.
  • A two-car car crash was reported at Arbor and Main streets at 11:19 a.m. The Fire Department and Police Department checked the area and nothing was located. Hamilton dispatch was notified and asked to check Asbury Street and Bay Road.
  • Animal control was notified about an injured owl along the sidewalk on Grapevine Road near Gordon College at 9:25 p.m. Animal Control Officer Stephen Kavanagh said he does not handle owls because they are federally protected and the Environmental Police were contacted.
