Cafe Worker Doesn't Take Flim-Flam Scam, Chases Down Suspect

A worker at Daily Harvest Cafe stepped up when she thought she was getting scammed by a customer, chasing him down while allegedly getting assaulted.

When a customer at Daily Harvest Cafe kept switching out bills, one employee knew something wasn't right. The customers was allegedly trying to pull a "fast one" where he would get the employee to take bigger bills out of register.

Eventually, George Lott, 68, of 39 Boylston St. in Boston was arrested and charged with larceny from a person, assault and battery, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

It all started at about 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday when the unnamed employee confronted Lott about his attempted scam. Lott kept changing bills and took back money that was not his, police said.

After being confronted, Lott fled the High Street restaurant. The employee chased him out of the restaurant and up High Street, toward Walgreens and Bangkok Pepper.

In that chase, Lott allegedly hit the employee several times. She was not seriously injured and did not require medical attention, police said.

Police were actually first alerted to the problem by a passerby who reported that a woman was being robbed or assaulted. When police arrived, they determined that it had started at the cafe.

Lott was arrested near High Street and Milton Road, next to Route 128, by Officer Steve MacDonald.

"When a customer at Daily Harvest Cafe kept switching out bills, one employee knew something wasn't right. The customers was allegedly trying to pull a "fast one" where he would get the employee to take bigger bills out of register." This makes no sense

Not that we want to teach it to anyone, but there are several places online that show it....an age-old scam that predates ID theft and the other modern scams.
