Was Wednesday Morning's Snowstorm Under-Hyped?

For some people, the 4 inches of snow that fell on Wednesday morning was a surprise.

Wednesday's morning's snowstorm was just the second measurable snow of the winter and came at the most inopportune time -smack dab in the middle of the morning commute.

Most North Shore schools - including the Hamilton-Wenham Regional School District and Pingree School - were not cancelled or delayed. Most businesses were open as usual and drivers embarked on their usual commute as the snow was coming down.

The slippery roads contributed to several crashes in the two towns - none serious - including one that left a vehicle on its roof on Highland Street in Hamilton.

The storm was not preceded by the days of unending hype that typically comes with storms in New England. The storm came just two days after a January thaw ended that saw temperatures top off in the 60s on Monday.
