The Balloon Test That Wasn't

A 150 Foot Cell Tower Needs a Proper Visual Test

Did you see three red balloons soaring 150 feet in the air along Monument Street in Wenham on April 5?
No?  Neither did I!
At Wenham Town Meeting, the chair of the Planning Board reminded the residents of the balloon test for the proposed 150 foot cell tower.
However, when questioned, about why there was no crane at the site, it was disclosed that Federal Aviation Administration requires 45-days advance notice for such a test.  Since there was not enough time to provide notice, a crane could not be used.   Many commented that due to weather conditions, the balloons did not make it much above the tree line, and certainly not up to 150 feet.  I personally never saw the balloons despite several attempts to locate them throughout the day.
It was the balloon test that wasn't.
The Planning Board will meet on Thursday April 17 at 8pm at the Town Hall for a hearing on this matter.  If you would like to see there is a proper test conducted, please attend.
Without a visual of the height of the cell tower, residents can not make informed comments on the impact a cell tower of this size might (or might not) have on the ascetics of the historic town center or the open space nearby.
