Pool Update From CPC Meeting

For those who were unable to attend the Community Preservation Committee (CPC) meeting last night, here's a brief update:

1. Of the $150,000 allocated for the pool study about $70,000 is left.

2. The Hamilton Board of Selectmen (BoS) appears ready to recognize that the H-W Rec dept should take the lead on the pool project.

3. The Rec. Dept. is working on scaling down the numbers of the pool project.

4. EiE is helping to form a Blue Ribbon Committee of local leaders and professionals to study and formulate an alternative concept plan for the pool project.

5. Peter Britton ran the meeting and did a stellar job. He asked thoughtful questions and stated that if Wenham does not come on board he will not be in favor of the pool project. Everyone appeared to agree.

6. There will be a joint Ham & Wen Community Preservation Committee (CPC) meeting the first or second week of January to determine if they will participate in the project.

7. One member of the CPC committee stated that he thought that no matter what a certain group in town would not vote for any pool. Both Bruce Wadleigh and Bob Gray of Enough Is Enough (EiE) emphatically stated that this was not true of the EiE group. They made it very clear that EiE continues to support the three recommendations they made at the Hamilton Special Town Meeting.... Wenham's participation, smaller scale pool and associated cost, and private fundraising.

Thank you for this update. It appears as though we are headed in a positive direction with a great many residents supportive of a revised plan for the pool, simpler in scope and associated costs. Also, Wenham's input and participation. Very encouraging.

Something that is not understandable. Why does JB write the TOL posts and then thank himself for an update? Surely he will say he doesn't but---

By the way, for full disclosure, Peter Britton and his wife are EIE members which in no way should influence his positions decisions made by the CPC.

Richard…You are mis-informed…again.
Jay Burnham November 27, 2013 at 01:34 PM
...and again and again. Some might think that's annoying. I find it entertaining.
Jay Burnham November 27, 2013 at 02:45 PM
I guess poor Richard didn't know I was in North Conway, NH, the night of the meeting, so I had no way of knowing or reporting on what happened. Those that think they know it all have the most to learn.

Jay, you posted this same info on Facebook as if you were the person that wrote it, but then later stated it was written by Bob Gray. So it was reasonable for Mr. Boroff to think your wrote it at the time he posted his comment. Now, I'm confused...Why all the aliases? Thinking Out Loud is not a person, but a "collective voice of EIE." But who is doing the typing? Does everyone hover around the keyboard and take turns typing he letter. If you want to express your opinion, please do and use your real name...Jay, you've said this many, many times yourself.

Michelle…You have asked this same question numerous times before and it has been answered repeatedly. Your agenda remains transparent and has nothing at all to do with the topic of this Speak Out notice. You have asked me to express my opinion, so here it is: When they discover the center of the universe, you’ll be disappointed to know you’re not it.

A little nasty on that last comment? Yikes.
Michelle Bailey November 28, 2013 at 10:19 PM
Yes, if you disagree with Jay Burnham, you can expect to be called all kinds of unflattering things. Why can't we have a dialogue that recognizes differences without beeing disrespectful?

Suppose we have to consider the source. I'm taking lessons for my rudeness and arrogance. We do know who labeled me don't we.

I'm going to go off topic here if I may. My Husband Nick & I just completed a 10 week Citizens Police Course here in Hamilton. I want to encourage anyone whose interested to find out how hard our Police force works to join this course. One week we had the State K-9 unit put on a demonstration, another week we had the Essex County DA Jonathan Blodgett come to speak to our class and we also got a tour of the Middletown Jail ( an eye opener). We learned about fingerprinting, and we went on a ride along with one of the officers. Chief Russell is a breath of fresh air, not only does he have the respect of his men, he has ours as well. We're very lucky to have him in our town, and I want to take this opportunity to thank all the officers who were involved in our classes, we're lucky to have them too!
