Pool Update From CPC Meeting

For those who were unable to attend the Community Preservation Committee (CPC) meeting last night, here's a brief update:

1. Of the $150,000 allocated for the pool study about $70,000 is left.

2. The Hamilton Board of Selectmen (BoS) appears ready to recognize that the H-W Rec dept should take the lead on the pool project.

3. The Rec. Dept. is working on scaling down the numbers of the pool project.

4. EiE is helping to form a Blue Ribbon Committee of local leaders and professionals to study and formulate an alternative concept plan for the pool project.

5. Peter Britton ran the meeting and did a stellar job. He asked thoughtful questions and stated that if Wenham does not come on board he will not be in favor of the pool project. Everyone appeared to agree.

6. There will be a joint Ham & Wen Community Preservation Committee (CPC) meeting the first or second week of January to determine if they will participate in the project.

7. One member of the CPC committee stated that he thought that no matter what a certain group in town would not vote for any pool. Both Bruce Wadleigh and Bob Gray of Enough Is Enough (EiE) emphatically stated that this was not true of the EiE group. They made it very clear that EiE continues to support the three recommendations they made at the Hamilton Special Town Meeting.... Wenham's participation, smaller scale pool and associated cost, and private fundraising.
