New Pool Design With Great Bids

Hamilton, MA - The Town of Hamilton announced this morning that it successfully rebid a changed design for the new town pool.  The new bids came in low enough to meet everyone's wishes. It will include the popular zero entry element as well as both a children's wading and splash pool. Construction can be completed before the summer swim season.

The new design, pictured above, incorporates an infinity pool directly into Weaver Pond to avoid the structural, plumbing and filtration elements that otherwise drove costs up.

The Hamilton-Wenham Joint Recreation Committee was thrilled with the bids, the infinity design and how the new pool will be able to serve the towns’ recreation programs.  The town intends, however, to allow private fundraising to build a wave pool on the schooling fields side of the pond.  “We heard loud & clear through the public hearings that the town wanted aquatic amenities more like those at Disneyland but it also demanded those features be funded privately” added the Board of Selectmen chair.  Another board member added that “even considering this design was risky since many residents already think our selectmen take long walks off short piers.”

The town’s finance director indicated that the new pool will be paid for with Bitcoin recovered via tax-title and that the entire cost of the pool will be covered without CPA funding or any impact on our tax rate.  The Finance Committee chair agreed that it is best to spend the Bitcoin before it loses value, and that a one-time expense such as this new pool is a perfect match for the one-time revenue.  Wenham has already agreed to cover a proportional share of the nominal capital costs.

A self-appointed light blue ribbon committee member, on the condition of continued anonymity, stated “We are experts with extensive experience with pond-based pools.  The pool should have been designed, however, with Smart Growth principles closer to our downtown. This will also be a disaster because the town has massively under budgeted dealing with Canadian geese.”    Another pool critic cautioned that the new pool is still too big and will attract families from outside this community.  On a side note, a manager at the Crane Estate who was at the bid opening noted that their community is enriched by having non-Ipswich residents attend Castle Hill events and enjoy their beaches.

Mr. Farrell, who is running for Selectman in Hamilton, applauded the outside the box design and is thrilled at the fiscally responsible solution.  Mr. Outloud, a frequent critic of everything pool related, fell unusually silent.  When informed of the April 1st press deadline he asked for more time because he was still Thinking.
