Five Things You Need to Know Today: Dec. 29

An essential get-me-going daily morning column from Hamilton-Wenham Patch.

Today is Thursday, Dec. 29. Here are five things you need to know:

1. Cold: Thursday is forecasted to be “cold,” but it is a relative term in what has so far been a relatively warm and snowless winter. The sun will be out and the temperatures will get just above freezing with the gusty winds continuing.

2. Traffic: As is usual between Christmas and New Years Day, traffic has been light on the roads during commuter hours this week. But when things get back to normal next week, do not forget about our “live traffic” page that gives you color-coded traffic information for the local highways.

4. Music Man: Right here in Hamilton, continues one of his for children at the at 10 a.m. on Thursday.

5. Winter Shelters: The Audubon Society’s Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary wraps up its vacation week programs on Thursday with “Winter Shelters.” And "shelter" serves tow definitions – the program discusses the shelter used by creatures such as mice and shrews and the shelter of humans in winter. Registration is required and it beings at 1 p.m. and is $9 for adult nonmembers and $7 for children nonmembers.
