Five Things to Know Today in Hamilton and Wenham: April 17

An essential get-me-going daily morning column from Hamilton-Wenham Patch.

Today is Tuesday, April 17. Here are five things you need to know: 

1. Beautiful: Monday was a great day weatherwise, and Tuesday should be just about as good. The forecast calls for sunny skies with temperatures into the 70s.

2. Trash: Monday was so trash pickup starts for the week on Tuesday in Wenham and will be delayed by a day for the rest of the week. When pickup moves to Hamilton on Thursday, it is a “blue bag” week, meaning collection will be for recycling and organics in the green barrel and . Trash in the town-issued black barrel will not happen this week and resume next week.

3. Hamilton Selectmen: Typically, the Hamilton Board of Selectmen meets on Monday night and, when Monday is a holiday, the board meets on Tuesday. But it is school vacation week and the board is not meeting on Tuesday this week. But the Board of Selectmen do have a quick meeting scheduled for Thursday at 9 a.m. at to approve a one-day liquor license.

4. Baseball party: Tuesday is the last day to register for this weekend’s Baseball Party at . The party, for ages 4 and up, will include an appearance by author and illustrator Matt Tavares, who wrote “Zachary's Ball: Fenway Park Centennial Edition.” The party will also include baseball themed game and cookie decorating. The cost is $8 for members and $12 for non-members.

5. Wenham Selectmen: The Wenham Board of Selectmen – the first board meeting since Interim Town Administrator Mark Andrews started on the job and the departure of Jeff Chelgren as town administrator.
