Five Things to Know About Thursday's Ipswich Game

The high school football regular season comes to an end on Thanksgiving Day, when traditional rivals face each other. That means Hamilton-Wenham makes the 5 mile trip up Route 1A to Ipswich High School on Thursday morning.

The traditional Thanksgiving Day football game between the Generals and the Ipswich High School Tigers kicks off at 10 a.m. at Ipswich High School, 134 High St. (Route 1A), Ipswich. Here are five quick things to know before heading out to the game.

1. Tickets: The admission charge for Thursday’s game is the same as any other regular season game - $5 for adults and $3 for students and seniors.

2. Records: The Generals – as you likely know – are undefeated at 9-0. The Tigers are 3-6.

3. 37: Thursday’s game is the 37th Thanksgiving Day matchup between the two Route 1A rivals. The all time seriesis tied at 18 wins.

4. Quarterbacks: So often, the quarterback in a senior. But not in this game, which features a junior (the Generals Trevor Lyons) versus a freshman (the Tigers Nick Andreas).

5. Meaning: Regardless of the outcome of Thursday’s game, it will end the season for Ipswich. And regardless of the outcome, the season will continue next Tuesday for Hamilton-Wenham, who will play Newburyport in the Division 3A postseason. The Massachusetts Interscholastic Association will announce the exact time and location on Friday.
