Caroling, Santa and Trees: Weekend Calendar Includes Many Holiday Events

This weekend's events calendar includes a Wreath Laying Ceremony in Hamilton, a good time to buy a Christmas tree and caroling on Sunday evening.

There’s an overwhelmingly holiday feel to this week’s weekend events calendar, with a Breakfast with Santa and caroling among the top events that are planned.

Why Go: Listen to a performance by Maeve in a benefit concert to raise money for disabled children in Kenya. One of the members of Maeve is Courtney Reid, . The group’s music often reminds listeners of Crosby, Still and Nash or the Indigo Girls.

Where/When: Saturday, 7:30-10 a.m.;

Why Go: There’s plenty of chances to meet Santa during the holiday season, but how many chances are there to have breakfast with him? Here it is. Breakfast will include pancakes, muffins, sausages and juice, plus each child will have a chance to have their picture taken with Santa. Pre-registration is required.

Why Go: The Wreaths Across America caravan when the Maine to Washington, D.C. caravan has stopped here for lunch and passed through . But this year, the tour rerouted and . This weekend, the tour arrives at Arlington National Ceremony to lay the wreaths on soldiers’ graves. And the practice is done concurrently at cemeteries all across the country, including here in Hamilton at Hamilton Cemetery at noon. Anyone from the public invited to help.

4. BUY A CHRISTMAS TREE

Where/When: Various locations; any time Friday, Saturday or Sunday

Why Go: Every family that celebrates Christmas likes to have a Christmas tree up in their home. With about two weeks until Christmas, it is actually a great time to buy a tree – just early enough that you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy it but not so early that it will be brown and dry on Christmas.  In Hamilton, there are at and the property . Why Go: It’s the Christmas season and caroling is always a fun part of celebrating the holidays. The annual caroling event has been held at in the past but is at Christ Church this year. Join the Christ Church and Gordon College choirs for some caroling.
