Camp Programs To Consider This Summer

This week's "Patch Picks" give you five local summer camp programs for children.

1. Wenham Village Improvement Society’s ‘Tea House Camp’

The original summer day camp program in Wenham dating back to 1935, the camp is centered at the next to the in the center of Wenham.

Date: June 27-Aug. 19, summerlong

Ages: four and up

Cost: $250 for the whole summer

Patton Park

A classic summer program in Hamilton for Hamilton and Wenham residents, the camps at are run by the Hamilton-Wenham Recreation Department. There are different camps, ranging from “Parksters” for younger children to the “All-Stars” for older children. All camps include swimming in the park’s pool.

Date: June 27-Aug. 19, four session

Ages: 5-12, in different camp programs

Cost: varies, from $87 to $135 per session

Pingree Experience Day Camp

The various day camps use the entire campus of the Highland Street school, from the gym and pool to the theater and computer labs.

Date: June 27-Aug. 19, four sessions

Ages: age 4 to 6th grade

Cost: $720 per session, $690 before April 1

Gordon College Adventure Camp

in Wenham offers a wide variety of summer camp options, but the La Vida Adventure Camp includes fun stuff such as kayaking, using a rock climbing wall and mountain biking.

Date: June 27-Aug. 5, six sessions

Ages: 11-15

Cost: $360 per week

YMCA of the North Shore Science Camp

The Y offers summer camp programs at all six of its North Shore locations, including Beverly, Cape Ann, Ipswich, Haverhill, Marblehead and Salem but here we focus on one of the offerings at the in Hamilton - Science Camp.

Date: Two sessions; July 11-15 and Aug. 8-12

Ages: entering grades 3-5

Cost: $228 for Y members, $263 for nonmembers
