It’s a weekend of choice – choose which Beethoven quartet you want to hear on Friday night at Gordon College and choose your favorite chili at a chili cookoff to benefit local football players on Saturday.
That’s just two of the five events on this week’s local weekend guide.
Each Friday morning Hamilton-Wenham Patch’s “Get Out” weekend planner brings you a quick guide to local events and activities.
We encourage you to look past this weekend guide into our full calendar of events, where we have other events listed.
Remember, if you have great ideas of your own that you want to share, please feel free to add them in the comments section at the bottom.
Where/When: Phillips Music Center Recital Hall, Gordon College; Friday, 8 p.m.
Why Go: Remember those “Choose Your Own Adventure” books you loved when you were a kid? This is the adult version – the Leipzig String Quartet is actually taking online votes for which Beethoven quartet they will play at the concert.
Where/When: CoCo Key Hotel and Water Resort, 50 Ferncroft Road, Danvers; Saturday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Sunday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Why Go: Now is the time to begin planning your spring home improvement project. Get to meet hundreds of local contractors and suppliers and get ready to hit the ground running when spring arrives. Better yet, either print out the coupon that’s attached to the event listing here on Patch (or just show it on your smartphone) and one adult gets in free.
Pricing: $6 for adults; $5 for seniors 60 and over; free for children 16 and under
Where/When: Eurostoves, 45 Enon St. Beverly; Saturday, 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
Why Go: This event had a successful start last year and returns again to decide a local chili champion with all the proceeds going to the Hamilton-Wenham football boosters (which will help them in the pursuit to return the Generals to the Super Bowl again this year). The winner will win a $100 gift certificate to Eurostoves and The Meat House and a year’s worth of bragging and for $2 you can help crown the winner.
Pricing: $2 per person to taste
Where/When: Community House of Hamilton and Wenham; Saturday, 2 p.m.
Why Go: It’s a great way to spend an afternoon with the family – “Music Man" Brian Doser of Wenham and the Puddin’ Pops will rock out with everything from some of mom and dad’s favorite classic to some children’s favorites and a little bit in between too.
Pricing: $7 in advance, $9 at the door: dads are free and $25 maximum per family
