Five Things You Need to Know Today: Feb. 24

Today is Friday, Feb. 24. Here are five things you need to know:

1. Wet: Friday will be a rainy day with temperatures around 40.

2. Orchestra: The Symphony Orchestra takes to the stage on Saturday night. Maestro Bruce Hangen will lead the orchestra in its winter concert, which will feature faculty cellist Soo Bae at the A.J. Gordon Memorial Chapel on the Wenham campus at 7 p.m.  General admission tickets are $10, children are $5.

3. Oil: We often bring you an update on local gas prices, but here’s an update on home heating oil prices. The average of the North Shore this week is $3.75 per gallon, and is $3.95 at in Hamilton. At this time last year, the lowest priced gallon of oil in the area was $3.47 per gallon.

4. MBTA drawbridge: Expect delays for commuter rail service to Boston for the next few weekends as repairs on conducted on the Saugus drawbridge. Passengers will be bused between Lynn, Chelsea and North stations, which will cause delays up to 30 minutes on weekends through April 15.

5. Tisei: Republican Congressional Candidate Richard Tisei plans a visit to Hamilton on Monday. Tisei, who is facing incumbent U.S. Rep. John Tierney, D-Salem, in November’s election, will be at at 6:30 p.m.
