Giving Locally to Children in Need

A guide to local giving for children in need this holiday season. Find a location to donate items of your choice.

Are you looking for a way to spread some cheer or share the joy of giving with your children? There are several locations in Hamilton and Wenham accepting donations to distribute to children in less fortunate circumstances. You can use this quick reference guide to make donating easy for you.

North Shore Toy Drive is sponsored by Senator Bruce Tarr and North Shore 104.9 to provide toys to charities serving children across the North Shore, including Beverly Bootstraps and Action Inc.  

Drop-off: Unwrapped toys by Friday, Dec. 14 at the Wenham Museum between 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.

Toys for Tots started as a nationwide community action project of the U.S. Marine Corp Reserves. The program with the help of volunteers places collection boxes for new, unwrapped toys each year and then distributes those toys as Christmas gifts through local agencies in Essex and Middlesex County.

Drop-off: Unwrapped toys by Dec. 12 to any of these locations:

Hamilton 

  • Library: 14 Union St.
  • Miles River Middle School (students and staff): 787 Bay Road
  • Town Hall: 577 Bay Road

Wenham

  • Wenham Tea House: 4 Monument St.

Salvation Army Angel Tree can be found at Crosby's Marketplace in Hamilton.   Select a gift tag from the tree at the customer service desk showing your angel's name, age and wish list, then return the gift with the gift tag.

Drop-off: Gift for selected child at Crosby’s Marketplace by Dec. 12.

Stuff a Cruiser Day will be hosted by the Hamilton Police Department. Santa will meet with children and share candy canes.  All gifts will be donated to Boston Children’s Hospital.    

Drop-off: Unwrapped gifts on Dec. 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Police Station.

Hamilton Wenham Gift Fund collects and distributes gift cards to families with children preschool through high school living in Hamilton and Wenham. Suggested donations include gift cards in amounts of $20 or more to Target, Market Basket, Kohl’s, CVS and Dunkin Donuts.  

Drop-off: Gift cards, by Dec. 10, contact Pat at banburycrosscb@aol.com for location drop off or pick-up.
